Europcar UK has introduced a new approach to car rental called Europcar City. The service involves mobile car hire booths, which can be installed in key locations such as city centres, tourist hotspots and bus and railway stations.
A number of the booths will be installed long-term, but where necessary they are also available on a temporary basis, for example during major events or exhibitions.
Each booth has all the facilities of a larger Europcar office, with IT links to the company”s rental booking system so that the company sales person can arrange deliveries and returns on site. An out-of-hours key drop-off point is included within the booth, as is a telephone for the sales representative to answer questions. A selection of the company”s hire cars will be available at a location near to the booth.
The first Europcar City in London”s Euston station has had a successful first month, with 90% of its revenue generated from new Europcar customers.
Europcar managing director Marie Barry said: ”Europcar City will make us much more accessible to our customers and take the Europcar brand to a wider audience. We currently have 130 stations in the UK, but Europcar City enables us to respond to increasing customer demand at new locations. Following the initial success of the first Europcar City at Euston, we will continue to roll out the programme over the next few months.”
