LONDON CITY AIRPORT regulars are likely to be subjected to some slight inconvenience over the coming months as work progresses quickly on the new Docklands Light Railway (DLR) extension. The £130m project is on time and scheduled to open 15 December 2005.
When complete services will operate every 10 minutes with a journey time of 7/8 minutes to Canary Wharf and 20 minutes to The Bank.
The current bus service to Canary Wharf will be discontinued but as things stand the Liverpool Street route will operate, subject to demand.
The airport says that the construction work has been well managed to date and there has been virtually no complaints by either travellers or local residents.
In spite of extra security precautions the airlines at LCY are still operating a 15 minute check-in policy.
For the future it should be easily possible to leave The City one hour before departure time and guarantee a flight connection. New mobile check-in procedures will also help.
