CARDIFF”S new ”17m airport station, due for completion next spring, is coming in for considerable criticism with some experts saying that it will only act as a glorified bus shelter. To be called Rhoose, not Cardiff International Airport (see ABTN 2 August), the station is 1.5 miles from the terminal and will be served by a dedicated bus service. An expert has described it as a ”halt” rather than a proper station with little facilities. The airport is looking into the possibility of adding flight information boards. There is only likely to be one train per hour with no direct services from either Newport or Swansea.
