Car rental company Avis has launched a website to encourage businesses to adopt greener driving skills.
The microsite, which sits within Avis' main website can be found at www.avis-greenerworld.com.
It offers advice on how to drive more economically, saving both cash and fuel, plus information on how drivers can reduce their carbon footprint.
Acording to Anthony Ainsworth, sales director of Avis UK, his clients' commitment to the environment has not taken a back seat, despite the recession.
"Our environmental policy is incredibly important to potential customers. And why not? This will enable them to demonstrate a level of commitment that they can then relay to their employees and to their own customers," said Ainsworth.
The car rental company has been CarbonNeutral since 1997 and works closely with the Carbon Neutral Company on projects to reduce its emissions.
"Our strategy is to ensure we progressively reduce our CO2 emissions in our premises, offset non-reducible emissions and continue to introduce less polluting vehicles onto our fleet," said Ainsworth.
Since 1996, Avis has offset 156,848 tonnes of CO2.
Avis reported that many of its business customers are also "proactively" requesting lower emission cars.
The company said it has introduced "hundreds" of low emission models in Europe, such as VW Bluemotion and the BMW 1 Series and 3 Series (F,H and K groups).
