AVIS, which claims to be Europe”s largest car rental company, has launched its newest customer service initiative called ”Rapid Return”, whereby clients dropping off their cars are dealt with by Avis staff kerb-side operating a hand held computer.
The device, which is initially available at 11 of Avis' busiest sites in the UK (which includes all the major airports), uses wireless technology for the staff to complete the return procedure - including damage assessment, in as little as 60 seconds.
The kit comes complete with a mobile printer and users can also check the details on the Avis website.
The new system has been on trial at a number of outlets across Europe including the flagship operation at Heathrow.
The trial saw 50,000 customers successfully, and swiftly, processed with very positive feedback.
