The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) and the Rail Delivery Group will be adopting the single name of Rail Delivery Group (RDG).
Until now, ATOC and the Rail Delivery Group have operated under two names, with the former delivering services to train operators such as the Rail Settlement Plan; National Rail Enquiries; Rail Staff Travel; and, schemes covering passenger train operations, engineering and major projects.
The Rail Delivery Group provides policy and communications functions representing the views of train operator owning groups, freight operators and Network Rail.
Both organisations said the change will not affect how the activities carried out previously under the ATOC name are funded.
It follows feedback from stakeholders, members and staff and aims to provide “greater clarity about the wide range of services provided by the Rail Delivery Group”.
RDG said: “A single name will better support the organisation in delivering its common purpose of enabling rail companies to succeed in delivering a successful railway and help it to provide a strong voice for all its members and for passenger and freight operating companies respectively.”
