SOUTH WEST TRAINS is slashing ticket prices to just ”1 from London to Portsmouth and Southampton. Customers will have to book in advance for single off-peak journeys. More routes could be added if the trial proves successful. The train company said previous high fares were deterring many people from taking the train. More than 3,000 substantially discounted tickets will be available from November 14, with the cheapest tickets at ”1 and many others for less than ”10.
