IHG Brings Kimpton To Europe

InterContinental Hotels Group will open a new Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants property in Amsterdam, marking the brand’s extension outside the Americas and entrée into Europe. The 270-room luxury hotel is expected to open in 2017 after a complete renovation of the property, which currently operates as the Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City Centre. IHG closed its acquisition of the boutique Kimpton brand last January. “IHG’s ability to take Kimpton to new markets and geographies was a key part of the transaction, and we’re delighted to announce this important milestone for the brand,” said CEO Richard Solomons. According to information released alongside IHG’s most recent earnings, for the third quarter of 2015, there were 59 Kimpton hotels in the United States and 16 more hotels in the pipeline.
