Air Canada and Virgin Australia will implement a codesharing agreement early in 2017, pending regulatory approval. In the first stage, Air Canada will place its code on Virgin Australia flights connecting with Air Canada's daily service to Sydney and Brisbane, including connections within Australia to Adelaide, Canberra, Cairns, Melbourne and Perth and from Australia to New Zealand's Christchurch and Auckland. Additionally, the carriers will codeshare to connect Virgin Australia's Sydney-Los Angeles and Brisbane-Los Angeles flights with Air Canada's service from Los Angeles to each Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal. Members of each carrier's respective frequent-flyer program will earn miles on those flights, and the agreement eventually will expand to allow reciprocal redemption.
