Air Canada is expanding acceptance of Chinese mobile payment apps Alipay and WeChat Pay to its websites in North America and Hong Kong. The carrier has accepted the apps for payments in mainland China for about a year. Air Canada VP of global sales and alliances John MacLeod noted "increasing numbers of customers purchasing tickets in North America and Hong Kong looking to use these alternative forms of payment." Air Canada already accepts several other forms of mobile payment around the world, including iDeal in the Netherlands, Sofort and Giropay in Germany, Bancontact in Belgium and Poli in Australia.
