BMi has come up with some traffic figures which clearly demonstrate that surface travel problems for both rail and road users is having a positive effect with the airlines. In December most of the airline”s Heathrow routes showed strong growth, Brussels up 75%, Manchester 71%, Milan (Linate) and Paris 54%. From Manchester the growth was also robust, particularly to the Scottish destinations of Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, whilst overall the airline”s Chicago service is carrying nearly 50% more passengers than this time last year the Sears Tower, as seen on this photograph, a popular attraction. On the negative side BMi Baby had to cancel six flights out of Cardiff and 12 from East Midlands on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day due to a lack of demand.
