VIRGIN BLUE, the successful Australian budget carrier, has placed an order for up to 50 Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft. The first 10 units will be Dash 800 aircraft for delivery between August 2003 and August 2004, taking the Virgin Blue fleet size to 40. The 737-800s will have 180-seat configuration with all leather seats, and also have performance-enhancing winglets. The aircraft were accounted for in Boeing's published order totals, attributed to an unidentified customer.
