Virgin Atlantic has become the latest carrier to partner with Airportr to offer passengers to have their luggage delivered to the airport before departing.
Using the service, Virgin Atlantic passengers can check in their luggage at home for flights from Heathrow or Gatwick. Bags are then collected by security-vetted drivers and delivered directly to their flight. This allows passengers to skip the bag drop and go straight to security on arrival to the airport.
Customers are kept informed about the location and status of their luggage throughout their journey via Airportr’s technology platform.
Airportr says it can collect passengers’ bags up to seven hours before take-off in a one or three-hour collection slot.
Hayley Parker, VP of airports at Virgin Atlantic, said: “We are really excited to be working with Airportr, as we continuously look to give our customers as much choice as possible. By teaming up we look forward to providing an even smoother flying experience for all of our customers.”
Randel Darby, CEO of Airportr, added: “Virgin Atlantic is synonymous with a great passenger experience, time and again innovating the customer journey to make air travel delight us all again. As an early stage and growing company, we are thrilled to be working with such an iconic brand, which has entrepreneurialism at its heart, to remove baggage from the equation when flying.”
The partnership follows similar arrangements made recently with Easyjet and Cathay Pacific following a £2 million investment from the Stobart Group.
