The UK government has added the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania to its list of countries from which travel has now been banned.
Last Thursday, the government announced a ban on arrivals from a number of countries in South America as well as Portugal over fears of a new variant of Covid that had been identified in Brazil.
It means that travellers who have been in 30 countries in the past ten days can no longer enter the country. The ban does not apply to British and Irish nationals and those with permanent residence in the UK but they will have to self-isolate for ten days on arrival.
