TEESSIDE AIRPORT is to be the fourth UK base for bmi baby, the budget spin-off from BMI. The airline will launch its third UK base at Manchester Airport in May. Two aircraft will initially be based at Teesside. The carrier is now finalising routes and frequencies and is looking to go on sale with destinations shortly. The northern based property and transport group Peel Holdings Plc said its was acquiring a majority interest in the airport. Peel operates Liverpool Airport, has been given a go ahead for Doncaster, and has an interest in Sheffield. www.teessideairport.com
