Star Alliance has announced a partnership with Skyscanner to allow customers to search and book flights with its member airlines through its own website.
The new functionality utilises Skyscanner’s fare search, linking directly with the alliance’s 28 member airlines’ websites for purchase.
The search function is now accessible on the Star Alliance website’s homepage alongside its lounge finder, flight status and other journey-related services.
In addition, the website has been given a new make-over to provide “shorter paths to its most popular features across both desktop and mobile devices”.
The news comes after Star Alliance launched a dedicated website for the UK market.
Director of digital and e-services Jeremy Drury said: “By introducing the alliance carrier fare search feature, made possible through our Skyscanner partnership, we are responding to our alliance customers’ feedback, offering a service which allows our members’ frequent flyers to easily book with Star Alliance member airlines and enjoy Star Alliance benefits. Anything that is bookable on our member airlines’ websites can now be reached through our site. We look forward to exploring further opportunities with Skyscanner.”

The new website search capability is part of a number of digital initiatives for Star Alliance, including interline baggage tracking, interline seat assignment during reservation, lounge and Gold Track security locations and frequent flyer membership number validation.
