SOUTHWEST AIRLINES has made a profit when most others are making losses. The carrier, whose main hub is Phoenix, Arizona, reported a 14% increase to US$24m during the first three months of the year whilst its traffic grew by 5% over the same period. Overall planned growth is 4% for the year. Now the fourth largest major airline in America with Southwest will handle around 64m passengers this year from 58 airports. It has a fleet of 375 Boeing jets, the bulk of them either 300 or 700 series aircraft. http://www.southwest.com
