SKYBUS, part of the Isles of Scilly Shipping Company, has become the only airline in modern times to introduce a comfort stop. For its new Twin Otter summer service direct from Southampton to St Mary”s the aircraft will land at Newquay, still also RAF St Mawgan. Direct the flight would take 90 minutes, considered too long for passengers (and crew for that matter) who had not visited the rest room before take-off. However, as the airline points out, the flight is far quicker than the long and arduous drive through Devon and Cornwall typically to Land's End Airport from which also serves the islands (as it does from Bournemouth and Exeter). London to Penzance is just over 300 miles. http://www.islesofscilly-travel.co.uk
