SCOTLAND is to have a second budget carrier following the formation of Air-Scotland.com. Unlike Globespan, who will mainly operate out of Prestwick, Air-Scotland will use Glasgow Airport as its home base, and also Edinburgh. Prestwick (and Aberdeen) have not been ruled out and feature in future plans. The new airline has been created by Egyptian entrepreneur Dhia Al-Ani, who came to the country 20 years ago. It will initially serve Alicante, Barcelona, Fuerteventura, Malaga, Palma, and Tenerife with Boeing 757s. Air-Scotland.com start up date is 29 March with a service from Glasgow to Palma. There are also plans to start flights out of Aberdeen and Prestwick airports in the future.
