SME users of the British Airways
American Express Accelerating
Business Card will soon be able to earn more Avios for
spending on the card after the two companies tweaked the way that the loyalty
bonuses are earned.
The companies are introducing a
tiered annual bonus that will give members of the programme
10,000 bonus Avios for every £20,000 of spending, up to three times per
calendar year. The new tiered bonus replaces the existing On Business Annual
Bonus, which rewarded £20,000 of annual spend and which will end on 1 January 2022.
The earn rate of 1.5 Avios for every £1
spent remains unchanged, meaning that business owners have the opportunity to
earn up to 120,000 Avios each year if they spend £60,000 on their card, enough for two peak economy return flights from London
to New York or Dubai.
For a limited time, new members of the
card, which costs £250 per annum, can also earn a welcome bonus of 60,000 Avios
when they spend £5,000 in the first three months.
The earn rate for On Business points
for users of the card is also increasing, to two
On Business Points for every eligible £1 spent.
