Scandinavian airline SAS is set to expand its transatlantic network with the launch of services from Copenhagen to Seattle from May 2025.
The new five-times-weekly service will commence on 21 May, with schedules designed to “maximise connectivity” with the rest of the SAS network, the carrier said.
With the introduction of the new service, the carrier will fly to 11 North American destinations next summer, including its recently-introduced daily service between Copenhagen and Atlanta.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is the primary hub for Alaska Airlines and also serves as a hub and international gateway for fellow SkyTeam member Delta Air Lines.
SAS joined the SkyTeam airline alliance on 1 September just days after it exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US as part of its long-running financial restructuring process.
“Seattle has been a highly requested destination by our customers, and we are excited to respond to their needs by launching this route,” said SAS president and CEO Anko van der Werff.
“The route from Copenhagen will provide more travel options for our customers and strengthen the connection between Scandinavia and the Pacific Northwest, a region of growing economic importance with deep Scandinavian roots,” he said.
