RYANAIR will this summer operate to no less than 19 destinations in France, mostly with a single daily service from the UK, Nimes and Strasbourg being the exceptions, both twice daily from Stansted. Whilst Beauvais, Picardy, 50 miles to the north of Paris, has flights from Ireland, Scotland, Sweden and Italy, it is not served at all from Stansted, the Buzz route dropped. Ryanair says that Eurostar offers too much competition for their type of passenger. Amongst 11 new routes Pau stands out (see On Tour) and Bergerac, originally dropped from the Buzz portfolio, but re-installed after intense lobbying from the local commune.
