Qatar Airways will debut its new business class product on selected flights to Heathrow this week.
Making the announcement at the Paris Air Show, the Gulf carrier will launch its Q Suite product from June 24.
The airline’s Paris and New York routes will be the next to see the Q Suite, with Qatar Airways’ fleet being retrofitted at a rate of one aircraft a month.
Features of the new product include the option to convert two seats into a double bed, or to group four seats together into a private suite.
The announcement comes a week after Qatar’s CEO Akbar Al Baker called on the UN’s aviation body to declare the Gulf boycott against the carrier as an “illegal” act.
“We are not a political body, we are an airline, and this blockade has stripped us of the rights which are guaranteed to us,” said Al Baker.
The airline said its operations to and from its Doha hub are “running smoothly”, with the vast majority of flights operating as scheduled.
