Oasis Hong Kong Airlines has been granted its licence to operate a route between Hong Kong and Vancouver by the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA), with the first flight confirmed for 28 June.
Although given permission by the CTA to promote the route and begin offering tickets in Canada, the carrier was still awaiting final confirmation to begin flights. Oasis recently purchased three additional Boeing 747-400s from ANA (All Nippon Airways) to operate the six-weekly service, which has a flight time of 12 hours.
”Vancouver is very appealing to Hong Kong people as both a business and leisure destination and there is a high demand for flights to Vancouver out of Hong Kong,” said Oasis CEO, Stephen Miller.
The carrier began its low fare, long-haul service on flights between Hong Kong and London on 27 October 2006 and has seen more than 100,000 passengers in the past six months. ”We”ve had tremendous feedback from our customers,” said Miller. ”The people of Hong Kong have really embraced us, for which we are grateful.
”The compliments we have received, especially from our business travellers, have given us the encouragement to now extend the same superior product and service experience to the much awaited Vancouver route,” he added.
