Finalists for the 25th anniversary OAG Airline of the Year Awards have now been released. A total of 42 airlines have been nominated for the awards, which cover 15 regional and global categories.
First time nominees this year include AirAsia, bmibaby, Etihad and Korean Air, with British Airways leading the way in terms of multiple nominations, having six in total. American Airlines follows close behind with five nominations and Continental and Singapore Airlines each have four.
Finalists for the much-coveted OAG Airline of the Year Award 2007, currently held by Cathay Pacific, will comprise the winners of the eight regional awards ” Asia, Australasia/Pacific, North America, Central/South America & Caribbean, Middle East/Indian Sub-Continent, Africa, Central/Eastern Europe and Western Europe.
Nominees for the world”s best airport ” the only non-airline award ” include Dubai International, New York JFK, Singapore Changi, San Francisco and Seoul Incheon International.
”OAG”s worldwide customer and subscriber base have spoken and voted in record numbers this year,” said OAG managing director, Duncan Alexander. ”As in previous years they have thrown up some interesting surprises as well as some perennial favourites amongst the nominees. The nominations truly reflect the global nature of the international airline industry and OAG”s clients,” he added.
