Low-cost carrier Norwegian has announced it will add capacity to its routes between Gatwick and the US next summer following growing demand for the flights.
Beginning 29 March and continuing throughout the summer 2020 schedule, the carrier will increase the frequency of services to destinations across the US, adding an extra 75,000 seats on the routes.
Flights to San Francisco will be operated on a daily basis, up from five a week, while Austin and Denver will get four flights a week, up from three. Meanwhile, the Tampa, Florida route will be operated three times a week, up from two.
The news comes after Norwegian announced it would cease flying across the Atlantic from Ireland, partially due to low demand on the routes and also as a result of an indefinite delay to deliveries of the troubled Boeing 737 Max aircraft.
As part of “long-haul network adjustments”, the airline has now announced it will reduce the frequency of other transatlantic flights From Gatwick starting 29 March. The Buenos Aires route will drop to five flights a week, Miami to six, Orlando to five and Rio De Janeiro to three.
