NEWCASTLE AIRPORT is set for a boom in 2003. On Saturday Ryanair launched a daily service to Dublin whilst easyJet has confirmed that it is making the airport its northern base. From April the airline will offer non-stop budget flights to Barcelona, Alicante and Belfast, with flights to Prague, Paris and Bristol starting in August. The airline has confirmed that its complete summer schedule (until the end of October) is now on sale. This includes the former GO flights. At the other end of the scale Eastern Airways will introduce flights to Aberdeen, Birmingham and Southampton to coincide with BA”s withdrawal. Given the capacity that Ryanair will be providing between Newcastle and Dublin, Aer Arann Express have decided not to introduce their planned service on this route.
