BIRMINGHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT last week held a media briefing by some of its customer airlines. Hosted by airport managing director Brian Summers were David Evans, general manager, BA UK business and managing director, BA CitiExpress; Tim Jeans, managing director, MyTravelLite; Tim Clark, chief director Emirates; Richard Castle, general manager, UK and Ireland, Swiss; Mike Carter, UK and Ireland director, Continental Air Lines; and Jim French, managing director, flybe. The airport says that the new road links from the A45 and motorway system are now complete and that the Air Rail link to the international railway station and NEC is due for completion by the start of next year. The airport is excepted to handle a record 8m passengers in 2002.
