With the opening of the Wimbledon fortnight, and no doubt it will rain, Lufthansa is marking the event with strawberries and cream in the business class cabin on all its London services from German cities. Just like hot dogs and baseball, strawberries and cream is synonymous with the world”s most famous tennis gathering. Passengers will also be offered Champagne from the famous House of Lanson.
As Lufthansa puts it: ”Strawberries and cream are just as much part of the age-old tradition as the whites worn by the players on the grass courts.”
Yachting fans have not been forgotten with the start of the America”s hosted by Switzerland in Valencia Spain. On many routes from Germany to selected destinations within Europe, Lufthansa passengers can look forward to a very luscious dessert. To mark the start of the final act of the world”s oldest and most prestigious regatta, passengers will be served a creation of rich shortcrust pastry, confectioner”s custard and fresh fruit in the form of a yacht, garnished with chocolate sails.
Since the beginning of this year, Lufthansa has been offering a range of inflight culinary surprises. During the ”Blue Hour” on Friday afternoons, for example, a selection of international cocktails plus European and Asian snacks are presented on domestic German routes.
