Lufthansa will operate its Boeing 787-9 'Dreamliner' aircraft on more routes to the US and Canada as part of the upcoming summer 2023 season, the carrier announced.
From 13 February the carrier will operate the wide-body aircraft on routes from Frankfurt to Detroit, Michigan, and from 26 March also on routes to Dallas-Fort Worth (six times weekly) and Montreal (four times weekly). From 1 May, flights to Montreal will be daily.
Also in early May, Lufthansa will fly its Dreamliner daily to Denver, Colorado and three times weekly to Austin, Texas.
The German carrier currently operates three Boeing 787-9s, with two additional aircraft to be delivered ‘shortly’. The carrier plans to include 32 new Boeing 787-9s in its fleet by 2027.
With a goal to halve its 2019 net carbon emissions by 2030, Lufthansa took delivery of its first Dreamliner in August 2022, and the fuel-efficient aircraft has been servicing transatlantic routes, including the carrier’s daily service to Newark, since October 2022.
