Lufthansa Group and Marriott International have announced a new strategic partnership linking their loyalty programmes.
The agreement will allow members of Lufthansa’s Miles & More platform to receive more benefits and status through the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty scheme.
Travellers will be able to link their Miles & More and Marriott Bonvoy accounts online. They can then earn Miles & More points while staying at hotels across Marriott’s 30-plus brands.
Dieter Vranckx, chief commercial officer of the Lufthansa Group, said that the initiative with Marriott was a “groundbreaking” development.
“This milestone is an important step in our comprehensive loyalty strategy, which focuses on exclusive travel and lifestyle benefits,” added Vranckx.
“By offering our members privileged access to one of the world's leading hotel loyalty programmes, we are delivering a truly unique value proposition and strengthening customer loyalty for both partners."
The partnership will see travellers who are qualified as Senators and HON Circle Members in the Miles & More programme automatically receive Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status. This will enable them to unlock benefits from the hotel giant “without additional qualification”.
Miles & More members will be able to earn 40 points per stay at a Marriott property and can accrue up to 120 points per year from these hotel stays.
Satya Anand, president of Europe, Middle East & Africa at Marriott International, added: “This partnership is a fantastic alignment of two trusted names, united by a shared commitment to enriching the travel experience.
“Together, we are unlocking distinctive benefits for our members, offering them greater flexibility, recognition and reward.”
