KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has launched a non-stop service to the Peruvian capital, Lima. From London the best alternative route is via Miami and onwards with American Airlines, another possibility being Iberia, via Madrid. KLM”s option, whilst direct, includes a stop at Bogota.
Six flights per week to Jorge Ch”vez International Airport will be operated with Boeing 777-200ER equipment and frequency will be raised to a daily service from 1 December 2007. Lima was previously offered daily by MD-11 services to Lima via the Caribbean island of Bonaire.
Lima sits on the Pacific coast of Peru and is a city of 4m inhabitants.
”Latin America is a growing market for the Air France KLM Group,” says KLM deputy president and CEO Peter Hartman. ”Over the past two years, we have seen an impressive increase in passenger and cargo traffic to and from Peru. In addition, the country is attracting more and more leisure travellers.”
