KLM Cityhopper, the regional subsidiary of the Dutch flag carrier, is adding more seats to the economy cabin of its Embraer 195-E2 fleet.
All 22 Embraer aircraft will be fitted with four additional economy seats by June 2026, increasing capacity from 132 to 136 seats. The first upgraded plane began service earlier this month with a flight to Porto.
To facilitate the capacity increase, the galley in each aircraft has been reduced, and catering storage “optimised”. This new catering process will be rolled out across the entire Cityhopper fleet, which the carrier said will reduce annual catering weight by 5 million kilograms and save up to 160,000 kilograms of jet fuel per year.
KLM Cityhopper said onboard catering will remain unchanged throughout the upgrade process.
