The Lufthansa Group, which includes Lufthansa, Austrian, Brussels and Swiss as well as low-cost carrier Eurowings, has appointed Jens Ritter as the new CEO of Lufthansa Airlines effective 1 April, 2022, succeeding Klaus Froese.
The airline group also announced it had nominated Annette Mann as the new CEO of Austrian Airlines effective 1 March, pending approval of the board. If approved, she will succeed Alexis von Hoensbroech, whom WestJet last week named as its incoming CEO.
Most recently, Ritter became COO and member of the executive board of Eurowings in April 2021. He previously served as chief operating officer and member of the executive board of Austrian Airlines.
Mann is currently Lufthansa's head of corporate responsibility, which includes oversight of sustainability activities. She joined the company in 2003 and has held various positions in product, sales and strategy.
In addition, the company named Jörg Beißel as CFO of Lufthansa Airlines and executive board member as of 1 April. He is currently head of corporate controlling and will succeed Patrick Staudacher, who chose not to extend his contract and will leave the company at the end of April, according to Lufthansa.
