JAPAN AIR LINES has ordered a pair of Boeing 747-400 freighters for delivery in 2004. The airline already has 10 of the earlier 747-200Fs and is exclusively a Boeing 747 operator with 81 aircraft of various models. The World Air Cargo Forecast 2002/2003, issued by Boeing earlier this month, projects that the air cargo industry will grow at an average rate of 6.4%, significantly higher than the possible passenger traffic rates. In the Far East it is expected to be even higher.
