Japan Airlines (JAL) is to give all its international passengers free cover against expenses related to Covid-19 if they test positive during their travels.
JAL Covid-19 Cover, provided in partnership with insurer Allianz Travel, provides up to €150,000 for testing and medical fees as well as additional cover for isolation and repatriation.
The service, part of the JAL’s FlySafe programme of Covid-19 measures, will be offered from 23 December 2020 until 21 June 2021 and is valid for 31 days from the first leg of a JAL-operated international flight or until they return home if earlier.
The airline is offering a global 24-hour support line in English and Japanese to help passengers exhibiting symptoms and provide peace of mind throughout their journey.
JAL’s Hideo Ninomiya, managing executive officer of passenger sales, said, “As international flights gradually return to service, the JAL Group has implemented key measures against Covid-19 to provide customers a safe and secure travel experience. While it may take time to welcome back customers on a global scale, we hope that this cover, supported by our partner Allianz Travel, will provide reassurance to those that need to travel today.”
