HOOTERS AIRLINE has finally got off the ground. After an abortive attempt to purchase the bankrupt Vanguard Airlines (se ABTN 20 August 2002) it seems that Bob Brooks, president/CEO of the successful Hooter's restaurant chain, "Delightfully Tacky Yet Unrefined", has finally created the airline he has always craved. Hooters is a gentlemen's club, where healthy young waitresses wear short-shorts, tights and midriff-baring t-shirt tops. There are 310 outlets in 43 states. Nothing top less or torrid, just teasing. Brooks acquired Pace Airlines, a corporate aviation specialist with 17 aircraft, at the end of 2002 and quickly set about creating Hooters One and Hooters Two, both 112-seat executive Boeing 737s. Rolled out at Atlanta, Hartsfield Airport, last Friday the first aircraft is due to go into service on 1 March. Will any other carriers copy the planned cabin staff uniforms?
