GLASGOW AIRPORT is the departure point for a new air service to the Western Isles starting a month's trial from today (24 March). Highland Airways will link both Benbecula and Stornoway with Glasgow International with a single flight that departs 0640 arriving Benbecula 0730 and Stornoway 0845 using the airline”s recently acquired ATR 42 50-seat twin turboprop. Return is 1555 from Benbecula with departure from Stornaway 1500. The service will combine passenger carrying and a regular freight contract that delivers mail to and from the islands and allows for a full day on the islands. Highland is confident that the flights will be a success and extended as an all year round service. Alternative routing is via the airline”s Inverness operation. http://www.highlandairways.co.uk
