HIGHLAND AIRWAYS the Inverness-based regional carrier has announced a new range of air services to and from the Western Isles. For the first time the company is offering a passenger service between Glasgow, Stornoway and Benbecula. Over the last two years Highland Airways has been combining its newspaper delivery service between Inverness and Stornoway carrying passengers and the daily papers in the cabin of a BAE J31. This popular ”combi” formula is now being applied to the new Glasgow connections on services that start today (Monday 27 January 2003) using an ATR 42 aircraft and a very early morning start allowing for a one day visit to Uist for the first time from Glasgow. Outbound Glasgow to Benbecula departs 0650 arriving 0740, and then continues to Stornoway for an 0845 arrival. In the evening the flight gets back at 1800. There is also a Saturday service but nothing on a Sunday.
