London Heathrow is being boosted by the addition of six routes to its summer schedule, including new flights to Abu Dhabi and Bangalore.
The UK hub’s expanded schedule will include the launch of Virgin Atlantic’s new route to Bangalore in India from 31 March, while arch-rival British Airways will resume flying from Heathrow to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates for the first time in four years on 20 April.
BA is also resuming routes to Kos in Greece and Izmir in Turkey this summer, and sister carrier Vueling is to fly from Heathrow to both Barcelona and Paris Orly from 7 April.
Ross Baker, Heathrow’s chief commercial officer, said: “We are bringing back popular destinations such as Kos and Izmir, and the additional service to Bangalore and Abu Dhabi opens more opportunities for businesses across the UK.”
Heathrow is expecting “to serve more passengers this year than ever before” during 2024 after nearly returning to pre-pandemic traffic levels last year.
