Gatwick airport has turned one of its long-stay car parks into
a drive-through Covid-19 testing centre for frontline health workers fighting
the spread of the virus.
Initially for use by NHS staff and invited key workers, the
facility opened on 8 April will be available from 9am to 5pm daily on an
appointment-only basis. It allows NHS and social care staff to be tested for Covid-19
so they can return to work if they have been self-isolating.
The airport has temporarily closed its North Terminal and
moved all flight operations to the South Terminal while demand for air travel
remains low.
