FLYBE says that it is to pursue a policy of a two type fleet, BAe 146 variants and Bombardier Q400s. The Bombardier CRJs will go although CEO Jim French has commented that if Embraer were to make an offer to swop to EMB 170/190 series aircraft he would not refuse! Originally known as Jersey European and for a short period as British European, the airline was recently re-launched a flybe. It describes itself as the first of a new generation of airline, blending the best elements of the new budget airlines and the service values of the traditional carriers. Internet sales have doubled to over 40% of all bookings and the airline has come to a code share agreement with Continental Airlines who offer US connections from its two major UK mainland bases at Birmingham and Gatwick.
