Finnair has introduced one-way or parallel pricing of its tickets as of 12 January 2021. The practice is common among the low-cost carriers which compete with Finnair on European routes.
“We want to offer our customers more choice and flexibility, and increase the transparency of flight pricing. In one-way pricing, the price for the flight is the same regardless of the duration of the trip. Many customers have wanted parallel prices,” said Ole Orvér, Finnair's commercial director.
“We expect travel to gradually increase towards and during the summer, and will increase our offering accordingly. Parallel pricing is one way to support the recovery in demand and make it easier to plan trips in this situation,” he added.
Finnair continues to offer flexible ticketing for all bookings made before 31 August 2021. Travel dates can be changed for ticket types where this would not normally be possible while the period of validity of tickets has been extended.
The airline offers free Covid insurance for international passengers departing Finland.
