PRESTWICK AIRPORT has published figures which show a 21.5% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers in the 12 months to 30 September 2002. The busy airport handled 1,431,731 passengers in the last 12 months compared with 1,178,089 for the same period in the previous year. The airport says that 30% of passengers travel by train and get a 50% reduction on their rail travel anywhere in Scotland. It claims that it is as easy to get to central Glasgow from Prestwick as it is from central London to Stansted.
