The government says that anyone arriving in England from one of the countries on the red list countries where Covid variants of concern are circulating must arrive via Heathrow, Gatwick, London City, Birmingham or Farnborough as part of the hotel quarantine scheme due to come into force next Monday, 15 February.
Other ports of entry may be added in the future, the government said.
Passengers who have a pre-existing booking on a flight from a red list country to a different airport on or after the 15 February must change their flight or face a penalty of up to £10,000. They will also be charged for the cost of transportation to the nearest designated airport.
After 15 February, carriers will not be permitted to carry anyone who has been in a red list country in the previous 10 days to any other port of entry other than those specified.
A spokesman for London Luton airport said it did not currently operate any flights to destinations on the red list.
