Emirates has
announced it is to cover the medical costs related to Covid-19 for any traveller
while they are away from home.
The cover is immediately
effective for passengers flying on Emirates until 31 December 2020, and is
valid for 31 days from the moment they fly the first sector of their journey. The
policy, which does not require registration, covers up to €150,000 in medical
costs and €100 per day for quarantine costs.
The airline
has also announced it is restarting some of its onboard services with additional health and safety measures.
From November
1, Emirates will reintroduce its signature meal service while observing strict
hygiene protocols. Passengers in all classes will be offered multi-course meals
and a complimentary selection of beverages.
It is also reopening
its A380 Onboard Lounge for first and business class passengers as a take-away
bar with limited seating capacity and social distancing protocols in place.
Passengers
can also make their orders from their seats if they prefer. The social areas in
business class on certain Boeing 777 aircraft and in first class are also re-opening with pre-packed snacks for passengers to grab and go.
First class passengers
will again be able to have a shower at 40,000 feet with individual amenity bags
including toiletries from award-winning, organic and sustainable Irish brand
VOYA and a disposable bath towel.
