Delta Air Lines has unveiled its first renovated B777-200ER aircraft, with new Delta One suites and refreshed cabins throughout.
The aircraft will operate the Detroit-Beijing route on alternate days throughout July initially, filling in for the A350. Delta says all eight of its dash 200ERs and all ten 200LRs are due to be refurbished by the end of 2019, with the airline saying the update is part of a multi-billion dollar investment in its customer experience.
The refreshed 777 includes a total of 296 seats, with 220 in the Main Cabin, 48 in Delta Premium Select and 28 Delta One business-class suites, which offer private space accessed by a sliding door, personal stowage areas and premium trim and finishes. Seats are up to 24 inches wide and convert to lie-flat beds.
In Premium Select, seats offer a width of up to 19 inches, adjustable head and footrests and 13.3-inch in-flight entertainment screens.
Delta has chosen not to follow the industry trend of ten-across economy seats, with its Main Cabin maintaining the nine-abreast layout. Seats are up to 18.5 inches wide and include personal power points and 11-inch screens.
The 777 is also equipped with Gogo Ku wifi and passengers will have access to free mobile messaging through iMessage, Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger.
