DELTA AIR LINES has finally retired its remaining Boeing 727.
The Boeing Co first flew the 727, called by Brits a DH Trident look alike, in February 1963 with Delta introducing the aircraft into its fleet in 1972.
It eventually acquired a total of 184.
Delta's last commercial 727 flight was flown from Greensboro, NC, to Atlanta on Sunday, 6 April, and marked the last scheduled airline flight utilizing this aircraft by a major airline.
With the retirement of the Boeing 727 fleet and its remaining MD11 Delta will by 2004 operate five aircraft types: McDonnell-Douglas MD88/MD90; Boeing 737 family; Boeing 757; Boeing 767 and Boeing 777. Sunset for the 727.
