Cypriot carrier Cobalt Air has signed an interline agreement with Etihad Airways that will see passengers able to check their bags through on connecting flights.
The agreement means passengers travelling from Cyprus will be able to connect through Abu Dhabi to more than 100 routes on the Etihad network. Travellers can book onward services with the Middle East carrier with the ability to check their bags through to their final destination.
Cobalt says all interline reservations should be made through travellers’ preferred agents.
The carriers say the agreement means Cobalt will have a wider presence in the Middle East and Etihad will once again have a connection to Cyprus after discontinuing its own flights to the country in 2014.
Cobalt began operating flights to Abu Dhabi from Larnaca at the end of February with A320 aircraft.
Paul Simmons, CCO of Cobalt Air, commented: “Cobalt is less than two years old and to be adopted as an interline partner by Etihad Airways, one of the biggest and most prestigious carriers in the world, is major recognition for us.”
