Clickair, the new Spanish carrier that began operating on 1 October 2006, has added 24 new destinations from its Barcelona base. Coinciding with the delivery of new Airbus A320 aircraft (the airline expects at least one every month until it hits its target of 30 by 2008), the new routes will be gradually introduced between 1 April and 1 October. By the time the airline reaches its first birthday it will serve a total of 36 destinations ” 28 international and 8 domestic.
A significant number of the new services are to Italy, with Verona, Naples and Palmero all to be added by July 2007. The airline is to take over Iberia services to Venice and Rome, which clickair currently operates from its Valencia base.
Other new cities include Casablanca and Marrakesh from 1 April and Moscow and Helsinki from 1 May. Budapest, Bucharest, Dubrovnik, Malta and Tunisia are also to join the carrier”s network, as well as various destinations previously served by Iberia. These include Vienna, Dublin, Frankfurt and Amsterdam in Europe, and La Coru”a, Santiago and Vigo in the north west of Spain”s Galicia region.
